16. A radical new world view

NOTE: This is an excerpt from the book The Least You Should Know About Life.

It now becomes possible to develop a new world view that opens vast opportunities for taking command over both your inner and outer circumstances. The central idea is that the many different forms you see in the material universe – whether it be physical matter or physical energy – are made from the same basic “substance.” This substance is what science has called energy, but it is a form of energy with vibrational properties that are beyond the material spectrum.

The existence of such a basic substance is found in many spiritual teachings. For example, Genesis states that as the first act of creation God said, “Let there be light” (Genesis 1:3). This is a description of the fact that before any form could be created, there had to be a substance which has no form in itself but has the potential to be “molded” into any form. Since this basic substance is used to create the world of form, it might be called energy, light or the “Ma-ter Light.”

The second idea is that the universe is divided into layers. Elementary school physics teaches that red light vibrates at a lower frequency than violet light. Yet there are frequencies above violet light, although they cannot be detected by the eyes. Likewise, the musical scale divides the tones into groupings, called octaves. This leads to the concept that the universe has several divisions or layers based on the vibrational properties of the Ma-ter Light. There are multiple realms, but the most important distinction is the one between the material realm and a higher realm, namely the spiritual realm.

The material realm was created when the Ma-ter Light in the spiritual realm was lowered in vibration until it took on the form of physical energy and physical matter. According to quantum physics, this process seems to be ongoing, meaning that physical matter and energy could constantly be “created” from spiritual energy. While this seems to contradict certain laws of physics, it can explain the unanswered questions in the predominant theory about the creation of the universe, known as the Big Bang theory.

This theory states that in the distant past, all matter in the universe was compacted into one infinitely small point, called a singularity. It then exploded in a giant explosion and it has continued to expand ever since. Out of the initial chaos, matter particles started to form and they then began to organize into gradually more complex structures. Eventually, this process formed the infinitely complex structures seen today, such as galaxies and the human brain. The evolution of complex structures was random and without intelligence, but it was guided by the laws of nature. Science seems to be a process of gradually discovering deeper and more complex laws that reveal an underlying order.

Aside from the fact that the Big Bang theory raises many questions that the theory itself cannot answer, it also contradicts the philosophical consequences of quantum physics. According to quantum physics, the transformation of pure energy into subatomic particles involves a conscious mind. Yet the Big Bang theory has no room for such a mind. There supposedly was no conscious, intelligent beings until a random process of evolution produced human beings, which happened billions of years after the Big Bang. If the material universe is not there when no one is looking and if human beings are the only beings with a mind that can interact with subatomic particles, how could the universe have been created before the universe produced human beings?

By looking beyond the mental boxes of both traditional religion and materialistic science, it becomes possible to answer such questions. The following is a very brief sketch of the basic components of a new world view. The individual components will be explained in more detail in the rest of this book:

• How could all of the matter in the entire universe – which is almost infinite in size – be compressed into one single point? In reality, it wasn’t. Before the initial event, there was no matter, there was not even physical energy. All that existed was the higher vibrations in the spiritual realm. This pure energy was then lowered in vibration until it manifested as the energy that started the expansion of the universe. This energy eventually coalesced into subatomic particles that combined into atoms, molecules and visible forms.

• How can the universe be continually expanding? If there is only a certain amount of energy, what drives this expansion? Although physics has long claimed that energy cannot be created or destroyed, quantum physics seems to contradict this view. In reality, there is much more energy in the spiritual realm than in the material universe. Some of this energy is continually transformed into material energy and this drives the expansion of the material universe.
  Incidentally, this can also explain the question of what cosmologists call “dark matter.” This is supposedly an invisible form of matter that is necessary in order to explain how the universe grows. Is dark matter a form of spiritual energy that forms a polarity with the energy and matter in the physical universe?

• How could a supposedly random and unintelligent process produce a universe with such infinite complexity and so much underlying order? In reality, the universe was not created by a random or unintelligent process. Quantum physics has shown that the “creation” of subatomic particles involves a conscious mind. The mind that started the creative process is what most religions call God. Yet the original Creator created a number of intelligent Beings that exist in the spiritual realm and have played a part in the creation of the material universe.

• How can mechanical laws of nature produce a universe with so much complexity and diversity? The Creator defined the laws of nature, but they do not work like a machine. Instead, they are used consciously by intelligent Beings in the spiritual realm. Thus, the laws of nature cannot mechanically produce complex structures, such as the human brain. A Being in the spiritual realm must first envision a specific form or structure. It then uses the powers of its mind to superimpose this structure upon the Ma-ter Light. This lowers the vibration of the Ma-ter Light until a form is eventually manifest in the material realm.

• How can a random process ensure the consistent growth of such a complex universe? How come the universe has not collapsed long ago? The reason is that spiritual Beings are constantly guiding the process of growth. This will require an expansion of traditional religious doctrines that claim God is perfect and created the universe in its present form at the very beginning. This new world view leads to a middle way between the religious creation story and the scientific theory of evolution.

It is no longer sustainable to claim that God created the Earth in its present form 6,000 years ago. No one who takes an objective look at the fossil record and geological formations can deny that the Earth was created through a gradual process. However, no one who takes an objective look at the findings of quantum physics can claim that evolution is a random process with no guiding intelligence. The middle way is that the universe was indeed created through a gradual process, but this process is constantly guided by intelligent Beings. Some of these beings reside in the spiritual realm, but what if some of them reside in the material realm?
